Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to our most frequently asked questions are given below.

If you are still unsure about anything – please contact our friendly team on 0345 567 6666 or 07855 954774.

How do I work out the size of the skip I require?

We provide three different sizes of skip: 6, 8 and 12 yard capacity. An approximate guideline for you is as follows:

A 6 yard skip is normally considered as a small builders skip and is used for bulky waste – as an approximate guide it could take a capacity of between 60 and 70 domestic bin bags of rubbish.

An 8 yard skip is the largest size available for heavy builders waste – rubble, concrete, soil etc and again, an approximate guide would be up to 80 domestic bin bags of rubbish.

A 12 yard skip cannot be used for heavy builders waste. It is suitable for large house clearances.

NB: The skip must not be loaded higher than the top of the skip

Is there anything I can’t put in the skip?

Asbestos, fridge freezers, batteries and tyres cannot be loaded into the skip. If you are disposing of potentially hazardous material please call us for advice on 07855 954 774.

Where will the skip be located?

Ideally on your property, however if it is necessary to place it on a public highway a license will need to be obtained from your local authority. We can obtain this license for you and as conditions vary from one authority to another we would ask that you contact us on 07855 954 774 for further information.

How long can I have the skip for?

Skips may be hired for a period of up to 4 weeks at no additional charge. If you should require the skip for a longer period of time this must be agreed at the time of booking whereby further fees and a new license application may apply.

How do I arrange for the skip to be collected?

When you are ready for the skip to be collected you just call us on 07855 954 774 and we can usually arrange to have it collected the following working day.

Can you deliver a skip within the congestion charge zone?

If the address is within the London Congestion Charge Zone the additional cost – currently £10 – will be added to your final bill for the day we deliver your skip and the day we collect your skip.

How can I pay for my skip?

You can pay for your skip by cheque or credit card when your order is placed.
